Contests

"Besides winning, [the most fun thing is] getting out there and mixing it up with friends; it's the competition."
Al Unser Jr.
American race car driver and two-time Indianapolis 500 winner

Another fun feature on the Fashmatch... are the contests! Fellow-fashmatchers come up with different contest ideas and everyone is free to join. Usually the prize for the winners would be high ratings for their matches and comments, plus the privelege of your creation being posted on their blog.

The contests are fun because they can be challenging and some contests give you an idea of other styles to try out! Ofcourse there is a thrill in winning but I guess the best thing about it is it's one good way to share your creations with others. So, whether we win or not does not really matter, we are all winners on our own. :)

My First

This was my very first Outfit Factory (Facebook) match, which started hundreds more (and counting).

I wanted to make something casual that I would wear on a normal day, maybe to the mall for some shopping, or coffee with friends or just a stroll in the city. Preferably light and comfortable, suitable for the weather in Singapore. I wanted it in blue and white because I like these two colors together... so I ended up with this. :)

I made 100+ more outfits from there, but one day lost everything... I have no idea why. :( But that didn't stop me. I started all over again until I switched to Fashmatch and now I've made hundreds of outfits already and still having fun. Luckily I saved a screen shot of all those because I wanted to show them to my bestfriend, who at that time had no access to the site.

Unfortunately, there are some glitches on the site lately due to some works being done (but hopefully everything will be back to normal soon). Due to this some features are still not working and for weeks now there haven't been new items added. Sometimes that gets frustrating but with all the items in there, I'm sure a lot of outfits can still be created. Sometimes I imagine if I had all those stuff in my closet, dressing up would really be fun but I worry I won't be able to get out of the closet because there are just too many things to choose from. Hahaha!

My New Addiction

Yes, I admit.

I am guilty.

I am an addict...

... a Fashmatch-addict! :)

Some months ago, I was browsing through the different Facebook applications available, when one caught my eye, the Outfit Factory from Fashmatch. It allows you to put together outfits according to your preference and share it to the web-wide world. And what's nice about it is you play with real clothing. After I made my first match, I got hooked!

I started out making "matches" (or outfits) in Facebook but decided to switch to Fashmatch because the application is too slow with FB. I didn't know it was a big thing really, until I switched to Fashmatch. In the beginning I was just sharing my matches to a few friends because I didn't really think of myself as a "Fashionista" and didn't want to embarass myself. Hahaha!

My best friend was my fashion critic, she gives me her comments and chooses the outfits she likes best. At that time she was not a Fashmatch member, but after a few weeks I got her hooked too. I also recommended the site to a friend who was going through something difficult and needed something to occupy her mind and time, it not only cheered her up, she got hooked as well. :)

The site is undergoing some works at the moment and not all features are working (yet). Registration is quick and easy too. To visit, go to: www.fashmatch.com.

Oh and by the way, people may rate and comment on some of your matches. But don't feel bad if you don't get the rate you expect, we all have different tastes anyway. Just have fun and bring out that creative fashion sense of yours. Once you've tried it, I'm sure you will agree, Fashmatch is fashionable, fun and very addictive!

Enjoy! ;)

what is kikay?

Kikay - Filipino slang word for 'sassy' (www.urbandictionary.com)

I've read that the word was coined from a song called "Sayaw, Kikay" (Dance, Kikay --- like, telling a girl named Kikay to dance). Later it became a familiar word to describe someone or something that is stylish, chic, cool and fun.

So to everyone who dropped by this site, welcome to a world of kikayness and have a kikay day! :D
